Located in Ba Ria Vung Tau province, Sanctuary Ho Tram is approximately 2 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. On 16 hectares with a picturesque beachfront location, the fist phase of the project comprised 28 luxury residential villas. Phase 1 was completed in February 2010.
The general design approach was to create several villa types that were open to the landscape taking full advantage of tropical outdoor living, yet private from each other. As a resort catering to vacationers, the open-air feeling was paramount as the setting of Ho Tram beach is meant to be experienced unencumbered by edifice. Villas were conceived with the notion of pavilion in mind, where they could be completely opened up to the exterior, or closed off with folding glass doors whilst still maintaining a powerful visual connection to the surrounding landscaping.

We laboured to create a drama with the structure, reinforcing the continuity of space and experience of outdoor living by employing an open L-shape plan without internal corner columns and the use of the folding doors seamlessly connecting interior and exterior into a unified living space. The result was 3 villa types with the approximate areas as follows: Villa A – 1000 sqm (Premium Beachfront), Villa B – 790 sqm (Premium Riverfront), and Villa C – 550 sqm (Deluxe Riverfront). Initial phases of the project were conducted while the principal was employed as senior architect for OUT-2 design Ltd with the project being completed by designhub. Interior Design by BKH (Australia). Book matched marble for the project is imported from Carrara Italy; marble blocks were personally inspected and selected by the principal in the quarry prior to processing and shipping.
